    Hey AngelChen,

I read your article on blogger help page. No comments, same as me, no much comments. So I starting to give comments to some unknown friend on blogspot.

I am Chinese from Brunei Darussalam. I hope you knew this country. If you don’t know, just let me know. May be we can emailing if you willing to.

Just surf to my blog if you have time and I always bookmark you blog. Since it is a good blog. Please do give me some comments too just like I give comments to your blog.

You like Jay Chou? I like his song. I think I like different kind of music, pop, rock, R&B…even a little bit of classical music. I think I write too long…hope one day my blog link will place on your blog. Talk to you later…

I too switched to Beta Blogger and like it except:

If I use the spellcheck it changes the layout of my post so some lines end short and might only have one or two words in them.

I sometimes have troubles with links not showing up properly. (ie: target=”_blank” might show up in the posting as part of the link)

Cannot yet use the cusomize page because, as you said, all the ‘improvements’ disappear. -

The inability to post comments on some of the ‘old style’ blogs that do not allow anonymous comments was a headache. I’ve notified my friends of this problem and most changed their settings so I can now log in as other…

Other than that I’m glad I made the switch but I’m also looking forward to the fixes…

    Hi Angel,

I don’t have much problem on blogspot after I change from tripod.com
    blog to blogger.

Just found the date of posting in my related blog was change and I
didn’t post any blogs on that related blog. Strange, I click in it and
    found nothing happen.

So far it’s okay for me on blogger. They adding the spell check
feature like word. Good! I like it so much!

  24. jamie on Wed, 25th Oct 2006 6:08 am

If you ever figure it out, please let me know! I’m having the exact same problem.

With mine, the timestamp is correct in the post, and in the database, and rss feeds, but when it gets to technorati, or google reader, or a blog aggregator I use the date and time have been mutated into wholly random numbers.

It started when I switched to godaddy. but the time is right on their hosting server. I wonder if it’s off on their sql server?

  25. Keith R on Wed, 25th Oct 2006 12:03 pm

You should get a plugin like Digital Fingerprint, which helps you track RSS stealers like these guys, and Anti-Leech. I have had several guys do what you’re describing to my blog content. For example, on a piece I did about coral reef protection, the first few lines of my RSS feed ended up on the bogus site http://coral-reefs.tipsupdate.com, which takes credit for the story and has no link to my original, and any links it pretends to have to “read more” actually takes you to product sites. The whole thing looks designed to push unrelated products and Google Adsense ads. Another two pieces I did on solar and wind energy ended up on http://the-future-of-wind-power.dewaltpowertoolsite.com and http://wind-power-maps.dewaltpowertoolsite.com, both bogus. They are, however, a little more clever — they include a link to my original story just below the opening lines, but if you don’t look for it and are careless, the link you click thinking you’ll read the rest of the story will actually take you to a site to sell products.

It sucks. When you find guys like these, report them to Google, because what they’re doing technically violates the rules they agreed to when they signed up for Adsense, especially the ones that don’t credit the original blog. Hit ‘em where it hurts — their earnings.
    Regards,
    Keith

Interesting what you write about Alexa rankings. Mind you, I think a lot of statistics churned out, in various places, aren’t always very accurate. But I guess there has to be some sort of attempts to rank or class websites and blogs.

actually, the mbr are the first 446 bytes of the disk, the next 64 bytes are the partition table and the next 2 are a magic number (55aa) so, if you delete the first 512 bytes of the disk youre basically killing your partition table too and your partitions will be lost, luckily there are tools that can check the disk for specific filesystem signatures and rebuild that (parted)

I just installed Firefox 2.0, and all of a sudden, my username/password isn't being inserted in the signon window (it always was before). I tried the usual suspects–I did not mistakenly tell FF not to remember the password for this site; and I also tried the remember password bookmarklet, but all to no avail–FF will not ask me to remember this password. What do I need to do to get around this?

Also, did you ever contact HostGator to ask why they are blocked?

  46. angelchen on Sun, 26th Nov 2006 9:13 am

Dreamhost is not blocked since I get some chinese traffic and many people from China can open it. but HostGator’s ip is really blocked in China, unless you buy a dedicated ip for it.

Were you able to successfully import your old Blogger posts to WordPress? I’m having a lot of trouble, I suspect, because I host them on and ISP, not blogspot.com. I’ve seen lots of postings elsewhere suggesting that the new WP 2.2.1 Importer would do it, but alas, no.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

  66. Bill Petro on Fri, 29th Jun 2007 2:27 pm

    How do you add:

Add to: del.icio.us | blinklist | furl | reddit | Feed Me Links! | Digg

    ..to each post?

  67. Bill Petro on Sat, 7th Jul 2007 4:05 pm

I figured out the answer to my previous question, indeed, I’m using the plugin “Share This”.

I too have moved to this excellent theme, and with the use of a little Photoshop, customized the header.

    Take a look at http://www.billpetro.com

  68. Bill Petro on Sat, 7th Jul 2007 4:14 pm

I found the answer: can’t Import New Blogger into WP 2.2.1 unless it’s hosted on blogspot.com. There are ways, but they’re painful :-)

I uploaded my blog from http://www.domainname.com/blog to sitename.blogspot.com and all worked well.

However, I cannot reverse the process. Instead, Blogger says “URL must not end with a path”. So, I can’t put it back in http://www.domainname.com/blog, it wants http://www.domainname.com.

    Any suggestions?

Vmware is the next best thing. You can take a server load it with Centos Linux a couple of raid 1 drives and you have 3 to 4 virtual servers. Of course add 4 gig of ram and have a tape or disk base back up and you have a full blown system. Once you make the vmare session aka windows system you just copy it. Vmware virtual servers are the perfect solution to fixed fee consulting or no hassle computing

I made a page with frames. Generally I try to avoid doing so, but it was the only thing that made sense in this case. To the point:

The main frame contains two sub-frames: a menu frame, and a content frame. After creating these I realized they would not be centered if viewed on a large monitor, so I threw the whole frameset into an iframe and centered the iframe. Looks great on Safari, but FireFox seems to now disregard targets and open links in new tabs instead of the specified frame. What gives?

    or

    /var/run/laptop-mode-enabled

    ?
    From http://samwel.tk/laptop_mode/faq
    “Is Laptop Mode Enabled?
How do I check if laptop mode is enabled?

Execute cat /proc/sys/vm/laptop_mode. If it contains a nonzero value, then laptop mode is enabled, if it says 0, then it isn’t.
What’s /var/run/laptop-mode-enabled got to do with things?

Well, this file is created and destroyed by the laptop-mode init script to enable/disable laptop mode activity. If this file is not present, then laptop mode tools will not do a thing except disable itself, even when you unplug your computer from the mains.
    …”

sure obscure the noobs…. no its not that bad. linux had multi-user WAY before windows did.its more stable. [avoid bleeding edge distros] lately has current drivers to rival windows.

    WAY different.

yes, parts are older than shit. [rm,ln, etc...] but the commands are MORE powerful. You have shortcuts on the command console[links -example: ln -s file1 file2].the command console [non-root] is colored for easy file type determination by YOU.

there are lots of apps lately to rival $$$$$$ applications in windows.

BEST of ALL: I PAID NOTHING for the OS, and I can do with it what I DAMN WELL PLEASE. ever read the EULA for windows??? M$ OWNS YOU.

the community could care less.UBUNTU and DEBIAN are WIDELY supported, though you can’t contact the authors directly. bugs are listed openly on trac or launchpad.

you can pull bleeding edge sources from SVN,CVS if you desire.

would reccommend disbling compiz though gnome if you use it, lately the wobbly windows and other effects [yeah, like the old days when you played with sheet metal....] glitch the titlebar.

those effects you see on tv are possible with linux lately. the M$ table is what it is, but linux had most of these ‘effects’ first.

windows pulls some shit from linux/unix and tries to hide that fact from you.matter of fact, M$-DOS was based on CP/M, a UNIX [much older] variant.

so who stole code from who again??

[not that it matters with the GNU-Public liicence, but really.....]

    wubi is full of bugs.

I have a hd with 2 partitions: c: that have windows installed and d: that i let free to install this wubi.

wubi.exe is in the c:\hold\ubuntu ok.

I run this file and choose to install in full d:

the installer create in D:\ubuntu\disks: home.disk, root.disk, swap.disk and usr.disk and some others.

after said that this level is complete the installer ask me to reboot, ok, reboot this f* machine.

after reboot i choose for ubuntu boot and wow ubuntu is running, but not, s***, its only as a live cd, blah.

the system really is ok to install now, lets go.

check disks, scan, bla, bla, bla and ERROR. f***

the “livecd” said me that i don’t have root partition defined ? wtf ?

but the wubi created this and “you have to set a root partition in the partitioning” ok, lets go.

then i click on OK button and this screen appear again and again and again ?

mas que merda, i think. and never ubuntu installs.

i choose for thi wubi because i have a good machine but i don’t have cdrom and boot for usbpendrive don’t do.

i spend 2 days trying and googling for this.

    i’m so sad !!!

I tried putting everywhere target=’_self’, including base target. Firefox options offers me only to open all new links into tabs or windows, no frames are offered.
